The national MindMatters team has worked closely with Adjunct Professor Ken Rigby, from the University of South Australia. Ken delivered an interactive workshop to the team around major approaches to dealing with bullying in schools.
The content of the workshop was based on his 2010 book: Bullying Interventions in Schools - Six basic approaches.

Ken describes six major intervention approaches available to schools as:

  • The traditional disciplinary approach
  • Strengthening the person on the receiving end of bullying behaviour.
  • Mediation external image PvmIrtybiiehdiefbj-target.jpg
  • Restorative Practice
  • The support group method - No Blame
  • The Method of Shared Concern
A full examination of each of these approaches is available through published articles, books and DVD's.
